Keene State: 8
How it Happened:
The Lancers would open an out of conference matchup against Keene State in loud fashion. Junior Kerry Brown (Billerica, MA) got things started with an early goal, to make it 1-0. First year Fallon Lozano (Upton, MA) would follow up with one of her own to increase the Lancer lead, as they extended the lead to 2. Senior Molly Witkowski (Greenville, NY) and junior Madigan Kelley (Bourne, MA) would add to the damage with two more goals, as the Lancers continued to surge. The Lancers continued to hold off the Owls offense, continuing to retain the lead. Senior Shannon Donahue (Dennis, MA) would add a goal of her own, then Kelley added two more goals to continue the run.
The second quarter would open in similar fashion, with Witkowski finding the net for Worcester State's 10th goal. Kelley would add another goal of her own then senior Mckayla Fisher (Peabody, MA) would get in on the fun with her first of the game. The Lancers would hold strong control on the defensive side of things as they headed to halftime leading 14-5.
Lozano would get the third quarter started in proper fashion with an early goal. Junior Meghan Bowen (Westfield, MA) would add her first of the game, followed by another one off the stick of Fisher. The Lancers would continue to move the ball well as they held the lead to 7 heading into the fourth.
The fourth quarter would see a much tighter showing from the Lancer defense. Witkowski would go on to add two more goals but the biggest strength was keeping the Owls off the scoreboard. The Lancers were able to keep the ball out of scoring position for the Owls and wound up holding the Owls scoreless to end the game, winning by a score of 19-8.
